Everyone has a role to play in keeping children, staff and our school safe and to help stop the spread of COVID-19

All visitors to school must wear a face covering and hand sanitise upon entry. If exempt, please wear a visor.

If you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 you can get a PCR test, whether or not you have symptoms
Please seek a PCR test for your child if they display any COVID-19 symptoms, including sore throat, runny nose or headache.
Please do not send your child to school if they have any or all of the COVID-19 symptoms: • A high temperature (37.8◦ or above) A new, continuous cough • A loss of change to sense of taste or smell
If your child has COVID-19 Symptoms • Do not send your child to school • Please notify the school via email if out of school hours Book a test • Your household will need to self-isolate for 10 days
If someone in your household has COVID-19 symptoms:• Do not send your child into school. Notify school as soon as possible • Book a test • Your household needs to start self-isolating for 10 days
If your child develops any of the symptoms listed above whilst at school we will: • Isolate your child and their siblings (they will be supervised) • Contact you as their parent/carer to collect your child as soon as possible • Advise that they are tested
Parents/Carers emergency contacts must be available at all times during the school day. Please ensure all contact details are up to date. It is essential that you have arrangements in place for the collection of your child as soon as possible
If your child tests Positive for COVID-19 • DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL • Notify school immediately
If out of school hours, please email school: ourladystjoseph@durhamlearning.net • Your household must self-isolate for at least 10 days and follow NHS Guidelines
If someone in your household tests positive for COVID-19 • Do not send your child to school • Notify school as soon as possible
Self-isolate for at least 10 days from the day symptoms started following NHS guidelines
Your child can return to school after 10 days self-isolation without any symptoms

COVID-19 Information

We cannot thank parents and carers enough for your help and support over the last few weeks.

We have come through a significant outbreak that swept through the school, amongst pupils and staff.

We will now start to plan towards some return to life post COVID.

Whilst we are well aware we aren’t out of the woods yet, we feel it is now important to start to plan ahead to a time when we can

gradually open up to families once again.

In the coming weeks we will be sending out a questionnaire to seek your views on events and activities you would like to see in the

near future.

These can range from opportunities to come into class with your child, social or fundraising activities, Collective Worship opportunities

or any other activities you feel are important to you. We can then start to plan to roll these out as soon as we are able to do so.

Information for returning to school Wednesday 5 January 2022

The children return to school on Wednesday 5th January 2022.

Arrival and home times remain the same for all classes.

Please be aware of the following government arrangements if your child is identified as a close contact of someone with COVID.

Daily testing for close contacts of COVID-19

People who are fully vaccinated, or children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years and 6 months, identified as a close contact of someone with COVID-19, should take an LFD test every day for seven days and continue to attend their setting as normal, unless they have a positive test result or develop symptoms at any time.

Pupils with symptoms should not attend school. They should seek a PCR test and remain at home until they get their results. Please help us to keep our school community well.

COVID Information - September 2021

Can we remind parents and carers that we are still operating under a DCC Risk Assessment. Children must not come in to school if they have any COVID symptoms. Children who develop symptoms in school must be sent home. A negative PCR is then required for the children to return to school. A LFT is not accepted as evidence for any child under 11 years. If a child with symptoms does not receive a PCR test, they will be required to isolate for 10 days from school. Thank you for helping us to keep staff and the community safe. Whilst our children are often likely to suffer only minor symptoms from COVID, we are well aware staff are experiencing severe symptoms when they contract this awful virus. If we all work together, we can avoid an outbreak situation. Children continue to be encouraged to observe good hygiene and hand washing. We will keep you all informed if we have any cases in school so you are aware of the local picture.
