Welcome to Class 4
Our Class Teacher is Mrs Anderson and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Armstrong.
Mrs Shearn is our cover Teacher and will teach Monday and Tuesday all day and Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs Anderson will teach Monday - Wednesday morning and all day Thursday and Friday.
When Mrs Anderson has PPA time, Mrs Armstrong will be in class during this time.
Religious Education
The term our topic is Witnesses.
English
'Nevermoor' is the text that our guided reading sessions will be based on this term. Children are explicitly taught the skills of reading outlined in the KS2 test domains through the use of 'VIPERS' which was created by Rob Smith (The Literacy Shed).
Our class text for english lessons is Cloud Tea Monkeys.
Maths
This term we will be covering the following areas: fractions, statistics and perimeter, area and volume.
Science
Our topic in science this term is Properties and Changes of Materials.
Geography
In geography this term we will be learning all about the United Kingdom.
PE
This term, PE will take place on a Thursday. All children must attend school wearing their PE kits, including school jumper/cardigan.
Spellings
The children will be given a different spelling rule to learn each week. Children are expected to learn their set of spellings during the week ready for a spelling test every Friday. Spellings can be accessed via the files on Microsoft Teams.
Times tables
It is important that children continue to practice their times tables. Children have times table practice in school through Times Table Rock Stars. It is important that children access this at home.
Reading Books
Children are encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes per evening. Children must ensure if they are reading a shorter chapter book, they return their reading book to school on a Friday ready to be changed. Children can also access Read Theory and Lexia at home.
Homework
Children have a homework grid which is in their homework book. Children are asked to choose at least one activity each week to complete and bring into school at the designated time. Please help to support your child when completing their homework.
